Our fully updated character home in Vancouver's prestigious West Point Grey area offers lovely living space for a family. We're on a quiet, tree-lined street one block from Point Grey Village, 11 blocks from the beach, and one block from major bus routes (including the 99B line cross-town express bus with UBC about 10 minutes ride to the west and the major Broadway corridor starting one stop to the east, as well as the #14 with direct service to downtown (no transfers); buses pass every few minutes). Very walkable neighbourhood (Walk Score of 89), with many local restaurants and cafés within 2-3 blocks.

Our house was originally built in 1930, and has cove ceilings and beautiful woodwork throughout. It has been restored and renovated, with a thoroughly modern kitchen and bathrooms (enjoy our high-quality Breville semi-automatic espresso machine!). All rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Guests will have access to the top two floors of the house (approximately 1600 sf of living space), and shared access to the laundry room in the basement. One of our grown children will be living in our basement suite on and off during your stay. Please note that this is our regular living space - we are making it available while we are traveling, so we will leave many of our personal possessions in the space.

In nicer weather, you will have access to a lovely patio area and surrounding garden space with seating for at least six people, including access to our BBQ. The space includes several "sunbrellas" for comfort. The wireless internet reaches here so you can work outside, and we have outdoor speakers to enhance the ambience.

Room details:

Main Floor:

Living Room: two sofas (including a chaise lounge by the window) and two armchairs facing a working fireplace.

Dining Room: a cherry dining table normally seats 4-6, but has an extension leaf that will allow seating for 8.

Kitchen: we have a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances throughout (including a glass-top stove and convection oven), as well as a microwave, mixer, blender, toaster and Breville semi-automatic espresso machine and milk foamer. We will be leaving all our staples in the cupboards - feel free to use anything you'd like.

Family Room: we have a cozy family room with two full sofas, a large square coffee table, and a 40" smart TV with access to the major networks, TSN and Sportsnet, Netflix, Apple TV, Prime and Britbox. We also have Gigabit fibre internet available, and a desktop Apple computer that you can use (including access to a black and white laser printer).

Powder Room: this little jewel features a marble-topped sink and cedar toiletries cabinet.

Upper Floor:

Master Bedroom: our spacious master bedroom features a queen-size dark cherry sleigh bed and a matching deep dresser. We have a plush red armchair in the room, as well as a walk-in clothes closet with plenty of room for hanging clothes, as well as additional built-in drawer space.

Bathroom: our spa-like bathroom features a glass-and-tile low-lip shower and a deep soaking tub with a skylight directly above it to brighten the room. The pine vanity features a porcelain sink on a white stone top

Additional Bedrooms: we have two additional bedrooms upstairs. We currently have the south-facing room configured as an office, with one built-in desk and one free-standing desk; this room opens onto a lovely elevated deck full of potted plants that gets plenty of sun. The east-facing bedroom is currently setup as a guest room - it has a pull-out sofa bed that can sleep two adults. There are built-in closets in both rooms. We are happy to discuss reconfiguring either or both of these spaces to accommodate children's beds - just ask!

Basement: There is a shared laundry room (washer/dryer) in the basement (shared with our 28-year-old daughter, who lives part of the time with us), as well as a utility room that houses our ground-source heat pump and on-demand electric water heater. Utilities are included in the monthly rental price.

Garage: we have 2-3 bikes we are happy to let you use during your stay. We do not offer off-street parking, but there is usually lots of on-street parking. We are open to discussing a car-use arrangement, if that would be helpful (we have a hybrid Ford Fusion sedan that gets excellent gas mileage - ~6l/100km).

We will be traveling during your visit, but will be available via phone and email to answer any questions you might have, and our son (and some of the time our daughter) are nearby and able to help out with any issues if needed.

Calendar Availability: We are hoping to rent our place from January through the end of March, and then again for May through July. Please note that we are currently only registered to offer extended stays (3 months+). If you are interested in stay that includes some or all of April, we may be able to arrange it - please reach out to us to discuss. For shorter stays, we would have to apply in advance for a short-term rental license from the city - please contact us to discuss this possibility. We will not accept requests for shorter stays until closer to the end of the year (e.g., if we need to fill in gaps between longer stays).

We normally prefer to allow 1-2 days between guests to ensure that the house can be properly cleaned. However, we haven't blocked these cleaning days on the calendar to allow the maximum flexibility in accommodating booking requests. If you are requesting dates that start or end the same day that another guest is arriving or departing, please reach out to discuss whether we can properly accommodate your planned arrival or departure time. During an extended stay, we can make arrangements with our cleaning service (at cost and upon request) for them to service the house during your stay.
